Year 2008

August 2008 The association has approved plans to carry out rehabilitation to the Maughera River over 3 sections.This work will be done in conjunction with The Shannon Regional Fisheries Board and will involve scrub clearance,gravel replacement,weir building and fencing.We will provide details of this project as the work evolves. The funding of this project is as a result of the success of the annual Stream Rehabilitation competition.

August 09 2008 A very successful youth day was held on Lough Sheelin on Saturday 9th August.The youths numbering 25 were given tuition in Fly Casting by professional instructor Liam Duffy while fly tying demonstrations were held inside.Than after a quick lunch the youths were brought out fishing and caught over 50 fish. Thanks to The Shannon Regional Fisheries Board for use of their facilities at Kilnahard,to Liam Duffy and all the adult anglers that supervised and brought youths out fishing on Sheelin.
